NDP points to crisis in health care in Sask

 

The NDP is pushing the SaskParty government to resolve a short-staffing issue in health care.

Opposition critic Vicki Mowat says over 3 thousand messages have been signed by members of the public expressing great concern about health care.

wat says hospitals are short-staffed and under funded with a back-log in many emergency rooms.

Health minister Jim Reiter says provincial health care spending has jumped 60 percent since the SaskParty came to power.

He says more work needs to be done but the province has 900 more doctors, 38 hundred more nurses as well as more other health care professionals since 2007.

He says the province is taking steps to resolve a backlog in emergency rooms in major cities.
