UPDATE – RCMP say Highway 39 is blocked just south of the Bienfait turnoff Thursday morning after a motor vehicle collision.

Police did not say how many vehicles were involved, or if there are any injuries or fatalities.

However reports indicate multiple semis were involved.

The highway is blocked in both directions and motorists are asked to stay away for the time being.

The Highway Hotline says the road is currently experiencing winter conditions with heavy and packed snow on the surface.
