It seems like forever since Max and I have been to the dog park. With nice warm weather in the forecast for the weekend, maybe I’ll get him out for a little exercise. A little exercise wouldn’t hurt me either!
I was wondering whether or not he would even remember what the park is, so yesterday I thought I’d have a little fun and asked him if he wanted to go to the park. Well, that was the wrong thing to say. Immediately, with his tail wagging to beat the band, he made his way to our front closet where we hang his leash. He was jumping up and down and looking back at me all excited to be going to the park. Suddenly I felt like the worst pet owner ever.
To divert his attention away from the park and his leash, I went to the back door and said squirrel. That’s another word he knows too well. Just like that he was jumping at the back door to go chase a squirrel!
For the next five minutes he was in the backyard circling the tree looking for that squirrel that I told him was out there. At least he forgot all about the park.
I couldn’t believe it. I just lied to my dog. Twice! On the bright side, he did fall for each one.
Why can’t my wife be that gullible?
