Fatal shooting in Lac La Ronge deemed to be homicide: RCMP

RCMP say the death of a 26-year-old man on Thursday in Lac La Ronge Indian Band has now been determined to be a homicide.

Jeremy Bird was the victim of the shooting that happened at around 3:30 a.m. when multiple shots were fired at a camper parked on Mikisiw Drive. Five men including Bird were in the motorhome at the time.

An autopsy conducted on Friday found that his death was a homicide.

Police are asking for assistance from the public related to this incident after speaking to individuals on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band and nearby communities including Air Ronge and La Ronge.

The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit North are investigating with help from La Ronge RCMP, Saskatchewan Digital Forensic Services Unit and the Prince Albert Forensic Identification Services.
