RCMP say a seven-year-old girl, a 59-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were killed in a two vehicle collision on Highway 10 northeast of Balgonie Sunday evening.
Three girls all under 14 in the same vehicle as the three deceased, suffered injuries ranging from serious to critical.
Just after 7:30 p.m. a truck travelling north on Highway 10 with two men in it collided with another vehicle carrying the three deceased and other children in it.
Police say road conditions had been rapidly deteriorating at the time of the crash after rain and dropping temperatures.
Highway 10 was closed for several hours between Balgonie and Edgeley while the investigation unfolded, re-opening shortly after 1:00 a.m. Monday morning.
No names have been released.
The two men in the northbound truck suffered minor injuries.
