Canada wide public alert test expected sometime Wednesday

Most Canadians can expect to hear their wireless devices, radio and TV stations squawk briefly today in a country-wide test of the national public alert system.

Provincial and territorial emergency management systems, except in Nunavut, will transmit emergency messages.

The alerts are designed to warn of imminent threats or emergencies, such as floods, tornadoes, fires or Amber Alerts.

Depending on where you live, the tests will be conducted mid-morning or early afternoon.
