Workers at Regina’s Wastewater Treatment Plant reject latest offer

Union workers at Regina’s P3 wastewater treatment facility have voted, with a 69 percent majority, to reject the latest offer from EPCOR.

CUPE Local 7667 says since the facility transferred operations from the jurisdiction of the City of Regina to EPCOR, staffing levels have decreased and the workload has increased.

The union says the bargaining committee has met with the employer four times since July.

CUPE National Representative Dave Stevenson says in a release that they have tried to advance the member’s concerns on wages, benefits and the balance of family and work life through different shift patterns, but the employer has refused to accept the union’s proposals.

Stevenson adds that the workers don’t deserve a second-rate offer and they will continue to bargain.

CUPE Local 7667 represents 17 workers at Regina’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.
