Canadian Western Agribition has announced a contribution of $100,000 over the next decade to the Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence at the U of S.
Agribition President Chris Lees says the new centre is an important area of research for the livestock industry.
The Dean of the College of Agriculture, Mary Buhr, says the funds will help with construction work at the Forage Centre of Excellence and the producer field day.
She says research is crucial for the future of livestock, pointing to constant changes, with new pests, new diseases and new market challenges.
She says consumer tastes are changing, and environmental issues are becoming more important.
The facility is situated on 39 quarter sections of land near Clavet.
