Keeping the finances in check at Christmas

The CEO of Credit Canada has some helpful hints to keep Christmas financially friendly.

Laurie Campbell suggests creating a realistic budget that includes parties and food purchases and leaving credit cards at home while shopping for gifts.

Campbell says don’t be afraid to speak openly with family and friends about spending limits and make sure the kids have realistic gift lists. She feels people often remember the time spent together more than the gifts they received so if money is tight it would be a good idea to revive a traditional family activity.

Campbell also recommends gift-sharing and pot-luck parties.

The head of Credit Canada says it doesn’t hurt to set aside some of this year’s budget for next year feeling planning early makes good financial sense.
