Regina teen faces arson charges

A Regina teen is facing multiple arson charges after an incident at the Cornwall Centre.

The Regina Police Service says on Thursday at about 4:30pm, officers were called to the shopping centre on the 2100 block of 11th Avenue for a report of a fire. Police received information that a man had been seen starting a fire in the bathroom and then left.

Officers found a 14-year-old boy on 11th Avenue and took him into custody.

Further investigation led to charges for five previous arson incidents happening between the 10th and 16th of December in the same location.

The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act faces six counts of arson and will make his first court appearance Friday.
