It is arguably the biggest midget hockey tournament in the world and this year, six teams from Saskatchewan will be at it.
The Mac’s Midget Hockey Tournament will start on Boxing Day in Calgary and run until New Year’s Day with 25 teams competing.
Of the 25 in action, six are from the Saskatchewan Midget Triple A Hockey League including four of the top five teams in the league at the Christmas break.
The Moose Jaw Warriors and Saskatoon Contacts are tied for the lead at 21-8-1 followed by the Saskatoon Blazers who are two points back.
The other teams in Calgary are the Prince Albert Mintos, the Swift Current Legionnaires and the Beardy’s Blackhawks.
The last team to win the tournament, which started in 1978, from Saskatchewan were the Regina Pat Canadians who did so in 2017.
