Saskatoon Police responded to a hostage situation Saturday afternoon in the 200 block of Willis Crescent.

In a news release, police say a female was being held against her will by her boyfriend in a home shared by the couple.

Once patrol units arrived and the male began threatening the life of the female, along with threats to take his own life, members of the Crisis Negotiation Team and the Tactical Support Unit also responded to the incident.

The female was then rescued and remaining officers on scene were able to bring the male safely into custody.

The male is facing a number of charges including attempted murder. He will see a Justice of the Peace Sunday morning.
