A man has been arrested and charged by La Loche RCMP after an incident on December 21 when a police officer was dragged by his vehicle during a stop.

The vehicle suddenly sped off and the constable was dragged 50 to 100 metres until he was able to free himself and fall on the roadway.

He was treated for his injuries in hospital and has since returned to work.

Meanwhile, police were able to locate and arrest 32-year-old Colin Lemaigre after putting out a warrant for his arrest.

He made his first appearance in provincial court Monday morning.
