Yesterday morning I was running around doing some errands and something appeared to be missing. I couldn’t put my finger on it right away, but then it hit me. People. People were missing!
After a busy few weeks leading up to Christmas and the new year, it seemed eerily quiet out. Stores that were bustling with activity seemed vacant and parking lots that only days ago were filled to beyond capacity were empty. I stopped at a couple of grocery stores and didn’t even have to wait in line to pay for my goodies. When I stopped for gas I was the only one at the pumps. Things seemed very odd indeed.
Did I miss something while I slept? Was there a city proclamation overnight that decreed no one could be out before 9 A.M. on New Year’s day? It sure seemed that way.
I love the hustle and bustle of the city, but there was none of that yesterday morning. It almost seemed like a Sunday, my least favorite day of the week for that exact reason.
Bring on the people. Bring on the busy parking lots. Bring on the action.
I hope 2020 turns out to be a lot more exciting than the way it started off!
