Estevan awarded 2021 provincial men’s and women’s curling championship

The city of Estevan and Affinity Place continues to draw big sporting events in Saskatchewan.

On Friday, CURLSASK announced that both the Viterra Scotties and SaskTel Tankard will be held in the same venue for a second straight year with the 2021 provincials going in Estevan as the province determines its reps for both the 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts and Tim Hortons Brier.

The women’s event will go from January 29-February 2, 2021 with the men moving in on the 4th and going until the 7th.

“We have had events in Estevan before and they have done an amazing job.” CURLSASK Executive Director Ashley Howard said. “Affinity Place is a great location to hold curling events and we know the city will come through and support these events the way they have in the past. “Things ran so smoothly with the 2018 Tankard it was really a no brainer when we saw the bid come in from the Estevan Curling Club. They have so many things going for them, great corporate support from sponsors, a great volunteer base and, let’s be honest, an amazing patch too.

Affinity Place has hosted the 2018 Canada Cup of Curling, the 2018 SaskTel Tankard and will be hosting the 2022 Canadian Junior A hockey championship.

This year’s Viterra Scotties and SaskTel Tankard will go in Melville at the end of the month.
