Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for west-central parts of the province.

This includes areas around Meadow Lake, Prince Albert and the Battlefords.

The weather agency says an arctic ridge of high pressure sinks into the area overnight, bringing an overnight low near minus 30. Combined with even light winds of 10 km/h, extreme wind chill values of minus 40 are expected Thursday night, lasting into Friday morning.
