Regina District RM’s meeting to discuss need to improve farm support programs

Farm income support programs will be among the issues discussed at the Regina District RM’s meeting this week in the Queen City.

The president of the Regina District RM’s, John Olinik of Kelliher, says farmers faced a difficult year in 2019 and governments need to improve farm business risk programs.

He says the Agristability support criteria should be restored to 85 percent from the current 70 percent level.

Even then, he says the program had limited effect on farm income.

The Regina District Association of Rural Municipalities comprises about 48 RM’s surrounding Regina.

The two day meeting opens Thursday.
