Cole Dubinsky scored the game winner for the Regina Pats, who topped the Saskatoon Blades 4-3 in overtime Sunday afternoon at the Brandt Centre.
It was the rivals first meeting of the season, with five more to come down the final stretch.
Pats goaltender Donovan Buskey made 33 saves in the win and was given the game’s first star and said after the game that everyone put on their best performance with parents and family in town.
“Yeah we played a great game today, right from puck drop to the end of overtime the boys did a great job and we gave it everything we had, it’s nice to get rewarded with the parents in town as well,” Buskey said.
The Pats (14-26-3-2) are off until Friday when they host the Victoria Royals (25-17-3-0) in what will be the only meeting of the season between the two.
