Riders move 2020 training camp to Regina

There’s a change of plans for Roughriders training camp this spring.

The club announced on Tuesday morning they will hold their 2020 camp in Regina.

The decision comes  after the University of Saskatchewan announced they will be replacing the turf at Griffiths Stadium in late April, making the venue unavailable for the Riders when training camp begins in May.

“We are disappointed we won’t be able to bring the team to USask for camp this year,” said Roughriders president and CEO Craig Reynolds in a release. “However, we’re looking into several ways to keep our fans in the northern half of the province connected with the team they love.”

“The facilities at Griffiths Stadium have served us well over the last several years we’ve run training camp out of Saskatoon, but we are excited to see what’s to come at the stadium after the upgrades are complete,” mentioned Reynolds.

The organization still has plans to be in Saskatoon for their annual Green and White Day on May 23. Green and White Day activities will be hosted at the Saskatoon Minor Football Field.

2020 training camp kicks off on May 17.
