RPS work with Alberta Medical Examiners in a death investigation

Regina police are working with the Chief Medical Health Officer in Alberta to clarify the death of a Regina man who passed away in an Edmonton hospital.

RPS opened the investigation on January 6th when officers were called to a home on the 1600 block of Athol Street for a report of an injured man.

Officers found a 38-year-old man in the basement who was conscious, but had apparent extensive burn injuries.

He was taken to hospital and later transferred to Edmonton where he passed away on January 14th.

An autopsy has been ordered, with additional testing to determine the cause of the death.

Regina Police investigators have conducted a number of interviews, neighbourhood inquiries and forensic examination of the scene as part of the investigation.

The name of the man is not being released at this time.
