Drug and weapon charges laid in arrest near Wakaw

A Melfort man is facing drug and weapons charges after an arrest near Wakaw.

RCMP say as part of an ongoing investigation, officers arrested two men and three women at a Shell Gas Station near Wakaw on Thursday.

Police also executed a search warrant at a home on Stovel Avenue in Melfort.

RCMP found and seized 29 grams of suspected methamphetamine, other drug paraphernalia and a replica handgun.

Forty-five-year-old Barkley Swenson faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon while prohibited and failure to comply with an undertaking.

Barkley has been remanded into custody and will appear in Melfort court on February 6th.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing and further charges may be laid.
