Scotties to provide economic boost for Moose Jaw

Moose Jaw is getting ready for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Many have already started coming to the city for the Canadian women’s curling championship which officially gets underway Saturday afternoon at Mosaic Place with the first draw.

David Wood is the chair of “Visit Moose Jaw” and says you would find it difficult to get a hotel room in the city right now

“We have 800 rooms in the city and they are spoken for.” Wood said. “We might have one or two that you can get for a night, but that would be it as all are spoken for

Wood says Regina is also benefiting as some have decided to get their rooms in Regina and travel back and forth for the event.

He adds those who came to Moose Jaw for the 2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts know what type of city Moose Jaw is and that those returning or those coming for the first time will find out all that the city has to offer.

“When people come to Moose Jaw, they generally come back if they can.  The Scotties are proof of that,” Wood said. “We have many things planned to make it easy to get people back and forth from Mosaic Place and the whole city is getting into the spirit.  It is going to be a great week.”
