Polar Plunge to take place Monday

The 4th annual polar plunge will take place Monday at the Victoria Square Shopping Centre.

Several local celebrities including CTV Morning Regina Live co-host Brit Dort, Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive lineman Zach Evans, SGI’s Tyler McMurchy and the RCMP’s Rob King will be jumping into ice-cold water in an effort to raise money.

Spokesperson Jeff Zerr said those funds in turn go to a great cause.

“Everything that’s fund-raised goes towards our over 1,200 Special Olympics athletes across the province,” Zerr said. “It definitely goes a long way to helping keep costs low for them.”

Zerr said registration is still open.

“If people were waiting to see how the weather was that day before getting involved, they can still register on site at the Victoria Square Shopping Centre, we’ll be located in the northeast parking lot,” Zerr said. “You can still come out there, or if you want to register online, skpolarplunge.ca would be the way to do so.”

While the first plunge takes place Monday at the Victoria Square Shopping Centre, the second one will take place on Tuesday at the University of Regina.
