Saying there is a lack of federal leadership on the issue, Premier Scott Moe joined in on a conference call on Wednesday with his fellow premiers and territorial leaders to discuss the rail blockades happening across the country.
In a statement regarding the call, Moe said he and the other leaders are calling for a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for tomorrow via teleconference to discuss “paths to a peaceful resolution and an end to the illegal blockades.”
Moe added the blockades have been happening for two weeks which is impacting the economy of all provinces, but he is seeing nothing from the prime minister to protect the economic interests of the country.
Canada’s premiers have the opportunity to provide leadership in calling for concrete federal action to protect the interests of our provinces.
Federal action must be taken to respect the rule of law. https://t.co/KJOxBae5W8
