Huge shot by Homan sends her into Scotties semi

A spectacular run double for three is sending Team Ontario to the semi-final at the 2020 Scotties.

Rachel Homan’s 9th end shot, which may have been the shot of the event, turned a 5-4 deficit into a 7-5 lead.  Homan then stole two in the 10th to take a 9-5 win over Northern Ontario thus eliminating Krista McCarville in the 3 vs 4 Page Playoff game.

“That’s why we work so hard, so we could set ourselves up in that ninth end, and it paid off,’’ said Homan. “My team was patient with me and we figured it out in the end. We’ve shown we can win a couple of ways this week and that was a little bit hard on everyone’s nerves, I think.”

Homan now awaits the loser of the 1 vs 2 game  between Manitoba’s Kerri Einarson and Jennifer Jones and her Team Wildcard rink.  The winner advances to Sunday night’s final.

The winner of the Scotties represents Canada at the 2020 World Women’s Curling Championship in Prince George B.C and sends them to Thunder Bay as Team Canada for the 2021 Scotties.
