Jennifer Jones will not win a record 7th Scotties Tournament of Hearts this year.
The Winnipeg rink, who was Team Wild Card at the 2020 Scotties, saw championship dreams come to an end Sunday afternoon at Mosaic Place as Ontario’s Rachel Homan moved into the final with an 8-3 win.
Homan and her rink consisting of third Emma Miskew, second Joanne Courtney and lead Lisa Weagle were on the top of their game as they curled 90 percent as a team in registering what was Homan’s 75th Scotties win putting her 3rd all-time behind Colleen Jones (140) and Jennifer Jones (150)
Homan will now look for her 4th Scotties title (previous wins in 2013, 2014, 2017) when she meets Kerri Einarson of Manitoba in the final.
The winner will represent Canada at the 2020 World Women’s Curling Championship in Prince George B.C, and will be back in Thunder Bay at the 2021 Scotties as Team Canada.
