Hazmat services respond to suspicious package at Saskatoon Canada Post facility

Police, Fire, EMS and Hazmat responded to a Canada Post mail processing facility Tuesday morning after getting a report of a suspicious package leaking its contents.

The Saskatoon Fire Department had those at the facility shelter in place until fire fighters arrived. Everyone but one person was evacuated by emergency personnel, and that one person was put in isolation for having direct exposure with the contents of the package.

Hazmat determined the contents of the package contained approximately a litre of non-hazardous liquid fertilizer that is used for plants. There was no risk to public safety and the person being isolated was released. The leaking package has been removed for disposal.
