Regina teen charged after shoplifting incident

Thursday afternoon, around 12:30 pm, Police responded to a report of a firearms offence on the 4700 block of Gordon Road.

A male and female were seen leaving the store without paying for merchandise. When confronted outside of the store, the male suspect lifted his shirt to show off a gun tucked into his pants and threatened to shoot. The suspects were then observed entering a nearby condo.

Police surrounded the condo and called out the suspects. Four people exited, two of which were the suspects who were taken into custody. The stolen merchandise was recovered, and the male suspect was arrested and charged.

A plastic cap gun was recovered just outside of the condo.

18-year-old Joell Ezra Thomson, of Regina, is now facing several charges including assault with a weapon, shoplifting under $5000, and failure to comply.

Thomson was in court this morning.
