‘Win and you’re in’ scenario for Matt Dunstone at Tim Hortons Brier

After a pair of losses Thursday, Regina’s Matt Dunstone needs a pair of wins Friday in Championship Pool play at the Tim Hortons Brier.

The Saskatchewan rink lost to Alberta’s Brendan Bottcher 9-5 in the Thursday afternoon draw, and then lost to Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs 7-4 Thursday evening.

With the two losses, Dunstone’s record is now 6-3. Saskatchewan faces Manitoba’s Jason Gunnlaugson (5-4) and Newfoundland and Labrador’s Brad Gushue (7-2).

Two wins on Friday guarantees Dunstone no lower than a tie-breaker to get into the page-playoffs over the weekend.

Still very much in the mix, Saskatchewan is currently in a four-way tie for fourth place in the Championship pool standings. They are in a 6-3 log-jam with Northern Ontario, Ontario’s John Epping, and team Canada’s Kevin Koe.
