Classes at U of S temporarily suspended; U of R giving update Saturday

The University of Saskatchewan is not closed due to COVID-19, but classes have been put on hold.

President Peter Stoicheff says classes will not happen Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week

The University of Saskatchewan is temporarily halting classes on its Saskatoon campus in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While classes are suspended, campus food and health services are still operating with libraries, residence halls, exercise facilities and pools still open.

The University of Regina sent out a tweet Friday night saying an update on the status of classes would occur on Saturday.  It would appear as if the U of R will follow the lead of the U of S as a letter from the student union suggests classes will be suspended .

The U of R also issued a news release denying rumours stating there are confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the campus.

The release states “We continue to await test results from the Saskatchewan Health Authority regarding two students who were experiencing flu-like symptoms and who have self-isolated.

Non-essential events and off-campus events not directly tied to academic programming have been cancelled until the end of April.
