FSIN declares state of emergency for Saskatchewan member First Nations

FSIN has also declared a state of emergency as part of the current COVID-19 pandemic spreading across the province.

Chief Bobby Cameron says in a news release that many First Nations are not prepared for the pandemic due to inadequate health services or a lack of access to necessary supplies and medicine to fight COVID-19’s spread.

Cameron adds the FSIN continues to field requests from off-reserve members who are struggling in urban centres but don’t have the resources for basic needs.

FSIN is requesting immediate funds to help Saskatchewan’s 74 member First Nations to help them in this crisis.
