Regina Humane Society adoption viewings by appointment only, fees reduced

While the Regina Humane Society continues to keep up with strong cleaning protocols at their facility during the COVID-19 outbreak. However adoptions are being handled in a different way during the pandemic.

Some of those adjustments include limited access to the shelter for the general public with the humane society suspending all casual viewings for pets.

However Bill Thorn, director of marketing and public relations with the Regina Humane Society, said adoptions are still open at this time.

“Adoptions are by appointment only and people can do that by calling the shelter and setting up a time to do that,” he explained.

The humane society has also reduced adoption fees at this time.

“In hopes of animals finding a home more quickly during a time when people are focused on other things, we’ve reduced our fees,” shared Thorn.

Here are the updates to adoption fees:

  • Adult/junior dog: $100
  • Puppy: $150
  • Adult/junior cat: $25
  • Kitten: $75

The humane society announced they have also suspended pet surrenders to reduce animals coming in to the shelter. Thorn mentioned that adoption numbers have not dropped recently.

Animal Protection Services will continue to respond to high-priority emergency calls.
