14 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Saskatchewan

The latest numbers from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health on COVID-19 cases in the province show there are now 66 reported cases which is an increase of 14 from Sunday’s numbers.

65 of the cases are positive with one presumptive positive.

For the first time, we are hearing that two of the cases are individuals in the 5-19 age category.

It comes at a time as the province continues to shut down with many either working or self-isolating at home. During the government’s daily briefing on Monday, Premier Scott Moe had a message to those who are staying at home.

“It may not feel like you are doing your part. You might be thinking you should be out doing something to help. Well, by staying home you are doing something to help,” said Moe.

“You are keeping yourself safe, you are keeping your family safe, and you are keeping many others safe.”

While speaking on the daily numbers, Moe also talked about the establishment of a business response team. One whose objective it is to help businesses in the province find the supports they need both provincially and federally.

Dr. Saqib Shahab admitted he’s encouraged by what he is seeing. However he feels this is a critical point for the province.

“Most of our cases are either travel related or related to large events. We have cautioned against going to any large event anywhere in the province or in the country.”

5,269 tests have been processed at the provincial lab.
