FSIN feels Saskatchewan’s borders should close due to COVID-19

The FSIN is calling for the provincial border to close in the midst of this COVID-19 pandemic.

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations wants Premier Scott Moe to immediately close the province borders to protect Saskatchewan residents and decrease the spread of COVID 19.

Chief Bobby Cameron says some First Nations have already exercised their autonomy by closing their borders and are limiting traffic in and out of their communities. Chief Cameron says travellers from all over Canada continue to travel into the province and could be unknowingly be spreading COVID-19.

He recommends only those travellers who are Saskatchewan residents coming home for mandatory 14 day isolation, as well as essential services and suppliers, be allowed into the province.
