Saskatchewan extends Crop Insurance deadline two weeks due to COVID-19

Agriculture minister David Marit says the Saskatchewan Crop insurance deadline has been extended two weeks due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Marit says the new deadline to apply or make changes to crop insurance contracts is Monday, April 13th.

He says these are challenging times for farmers with many acres of crop yet to be combined and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Farmers are advised to apply or make changes to crop insurance by phone or internet.

Crop insurance premiums this year are down 14 percent while coverage takes about a 2.6 percent drop.
