Limiting the effects of social isolation with seniors

Care homes are trying to keep their residents safe from the transmission of COVID-19, but to keep them healthy, the effects of social isolation is also a concern.

The CEO of Eden Care Communities which operates long term care homes, personal care homes, and supportive living and group homes, understands it’s difficult for loved ones to stay away, but it’s the most important thing that you can do.

But, Alan Stephen says, while staying safe from the transmission of a virus, you don’t want to plague residents with loneliness, helplessness and boredom.

That’s why Eden Care is engaging residents in creative activities in their rooms and making sure there are regular visits with family using digital technology to help with that.

It’s important to keep residents and staff healthy, so disinfecting is continuous and staff even have 2 sets of clothing when they come to work. When they arrive, they change into clean clothes before engaging with the residents.
