Saskatchewan foodbanks continue to feel the crunch

COVID19 has put a lot of pressure on Saskatchewan families and the 32 foodbanks across Saskatchewan.

In March alone, the Battlefords District food bank distributed 736 emergency food hampers, helping 2,134 people, 45% of those were children. This equates to 10 percent of the population in the  Battleford area while in Regina the demand for food hampers has gone up by nearly 50 percent.

CEO John Bailey says his fear is just the beginning because we are seeing a significant increase in demand while also seeing a decrease in physical food donations, coupled with distribution challenges due to our need for social distancing.”

It costs on average  $34,000 a day to support food banks across our province leaving them to ask for your help with financial donations to help Saskatchewan families over the next six months. Your donation of $50 will support a family for a week and if you donate this weekend, your contribution will be generously matched by the Ina Lou and Wayne Brownlee Family Foundation.
