Province confirms Sask’s fourth COVID-19 death; 4 new cases

A fourth person has died from COVID-19 in Saskatchewan. The person was in their 60s from Regina.

In its daily update on Saturday, the government confirmed four new cases of COVID-19, also the confirmation of the presumptive case reported Friday. There are now 289 cases in Saskatchewan. Of those 289 cases. 138 cases are considered active.

Eleven more people have recovered, bringing the provincial total to 147.

Of the 289 cases, the province says 126 are linked to travel, 106 are linked to contacts or mass gathering, 22 have no known exposure and 35 are still under investigation.

Eight people remain hospitalized with one in intensive care.

During the government’s daily briefing, Premier Scott Moe said that while there is sad news with a fourth death being reported, he is feeling some optimism, but not enough to start thinking about lifting the restrictions we have been under.

To date, 18,448 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. Saskatchewan continues to have the second highest rate of testing per capita among the provinces.
