Federal conservative leader Andrew Scheer is defending a decision to take his wife and family with him and other M.P’s on a government flight to Ottawa recently, despite social distancing guidelines.
Speaking in Ottawa, Scheer said the notion that the Challenger jet was packed is false.
“We had a choice to make, I would either fly back and forth multiple times between Regina and Ottawa, between now and the end of June. Or fly the family through several different airports on commercial flights and the risks associated with that, or take a flight the government was offering between Vancouver and Ottawa anyway,” said Scheer.
Scheer, the M.P for Regina Qu’Appelle, also says there were only two other people on the flight, and they took precautions to minimized interactions with each other.
