Regina man facing firearms charges after Thursday morning incident

An 18-year-old Regina man is facing numerous firearm s charges following an incident Thursday morning.

At approximately 5:40 am, Police were dispatched to the 5600 block of Campling Avenue for a report of a man with a pistol, who had indicated that he wanted to harm himself.

The suspect drove away from the scene, and its alleged that, at one point, the driver drove aggressively towards officers on foot and a parked police vehicle. The van swerved at the last second and collided with an electrical box.

The suspect refused to comply with officers and still had access to the gun, so an officer deployed pepper spray which helped police arrest the man.

The firearm was recovered, and further investigation resulted in a number of firearms charges being laid

18-year-old Shaye Marshall Dash, has been charged with several offences including possession of a prohibited firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and breach of a court ordered condition.

Dash will make his first court appearance Friday morning.
