Care home staff in SK will start working at just one facility

As of April 28, those who work in a long-term care home or a personal care home can only work in one facility.

In a release, Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab says we need to emphasize protecting the most vulnerable, that includes residents in long term care facilities, personal care homes and assisted living facilities.

Individual care homes can seek approval from the province to allow staff to work in more than one place if they cannot adequately staff facilities.

Workers at these facilities are now required to have temperature checks before entering each day and they must also a mask while on the job.

The news comes as Shahab revealed two staff members at a facility in Regina (Eden Care) have tested positive for the virus with three others also possibly having the virus as they are showing symptoms.  That is not the only long-term care home where COVID19 has appeared. Shahab says an employee of a long-term care home in La Loche has also tested positive for the virus.
