The Pats now have five 20 year olds on their roster after making a deal with the Seattle Thunderbirds that sees them get goaltender Roddy Ross.
In exchange for Ross, who was taken in the 6th round of the 2019 NHL draft by Philadelphia, the Pats give up a second-round pick in Wednesday’s WHL bantam draft, a fourth round pick in 2022 and a conditional 2nd round pick in 2024
Ross, who is from Meadow Lake. played 49 games last year for the T-Birds winning 20 games while posting a goals against average of 3.17 and a .908 save percentage. In 74 career WHL games, he has posted a record of 36-26-5-5 with 3.03 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.
Speaking with Pats play-by-play man Phil Andrews after the draft, Paddock said the addition of Ross is big for the organization.
“Buss (Donovan Buskey) has done a great job for us, but Rod is a drafted goalie and the Flyers are very high on him. “Paddock said.” We feel that is a big acquisition..
The move leaves Regina with Ross, goalie Donovan Buskey, forwards Riley Krane and Carson Denomie along with defenceman Kyle Walker as overage players. The team can only have three 20’s on the roster.

Wood played with Connor Bedard who was the first pick overall by the Pats. The Nanaimo, B.C product, who stayed with the Bedard family as they each played for West Van Academy Prep of the CSSBHL, He had 71 points in 30 games last season.
