Eight new cases of COVID19 in SK; 7 in far north

The daily briefing from the Saskatchewan government on the COVID-19 virus shows eight new cases bringing the provincial total to 349 with eight more recoveries bringing the total to 288.

Of the eight new cases. seven are in the far north.  On Friday, the government issued a public health order restricting travel in and out of the area and asking for non-essential travel between communities in the area to stop.

Four people are in hospital with two in intensive care.

To date, 27,232 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of April 22, 2020, when other provincial and national numbers are available from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 20,864 people tested per million population and exceeds the national rate of 16,497 people tested per million population.
