Change my mind for me. Cotton candy is one of the most unpleasant “treats” out there. What makes cotton candy so enjoyable? That is a question I have been struggling with for a very long time. Even as a kid I never really much cared for the stuff because I found it far to sweet, sticky, and just awkward to eat!

To me, cotton candy reminds me of that thick, white cotton batten that one has to pull out of pill containers to access the pills. We wouldn’t eat that, so why eat cotton candy? Every time I’d try to eat the stuff it felt like I was choking on sweet, sugary fabric.

Recently I read about a candy store in Toronto that will make cotton candy cakes for special occasions like birthdays and Mother’s Day. They have 13 different flavours one can choose from including bubble gum and vanilla. You can even order a cotton candy layer cake which is fashioned in plastic cake making molds. As creative and unique as that is, I would be deeply offended getting a cotton candy cake! It’s like getting a soap basket as a present. Do I stink or something? What did I do to deserve a cotton candy cake?
