Saskatchewan’s Chief Electoral Officer gets clearer powers when it comes to provincial election

Changes to “The Elections Act” are being approved by the provincial government. The changes give the Chief Electoral Office clear authority to do what is needed to make sure the October 26 provincial election is conducted safely.

In a release, Premier Scott Moe says the election will go ahead as planned, but it might look a little different when it comes to the voting process to make sure everything done is safely and successfully. As a result, the government is strengthening the emergency powers that the officer has to ensure he has that authority.

The government adds that following consultation with municipal organizations, this year’s resort village elections from July 25 to August 29.
