Prince Albert keeps rights to Esso Cup; city to host 2021 event

The Esso Cup will be presented in Prince Albert after all.

The 2020 national under-18 female hockey championship was to have been played in the city in April, but was cancelled due to COVID-19.

On Wednesday, Hockey Canada announced the 2021 event will go at the Art Hauser Centre with the 2022 event going to Lloydminster.  Lloydminster was to have hosted in 2021, but the decision was made to allow Prince Albert to have its opportunity to host.

The date for the event and ticket packages have not been announced.

Hockey Canada also says the 2022 Centennial Cup (Junior A Championship) will be staying  in Estevan and won’t be moved to another season.
