“Ol’ Waylon” kicked off a 13 week ride at number 1 on this day in 1977. It was Waylon Jennings’ fourth album in a row to go number 1 thanks to its hit song “Luckenbach, Texas.

Speaking of Waylon Jennings, he landed his 12th number 1 on this day 37 years ago with “Lucille,” an old Little Richard song.

Earl Thomas Conley got his 15th number 1 on this day in 1988 with “What She Is (Is a Woman in Love). It stayed at the top for one week.

Dierks Bentley captured his third number one single on this day in 2006. “Settle for a Slowdown” would stay at at top of the chart for two weeks in the spring of 2006.

Baldemar Garza Huerta was born in San Benito, Texas on June 4th, 1937. We know him better as “Freddy Fender.” We lost Freddy of lung cancer in October 2006.

And an epic country music collaboration happened in 2011 when Brad Paisley teamed up with Alabama. Their single “Old Alabama” went to number 1 on this day in 2011 and stayed there for two weeks. It was Paisley’s 17th number 1 and the first for Alabama since “Reckless” in 1993.
