On Monday we reach phase three of the “Re-Open Saskatchewan” plan.
That means gyms and fitness facilities will be able to operate once again under rules and guidelines.
For the YMCA of Regina, the northwest location will be the first to open on the 22nd, followed by the east location on July 8th.
CEO Steve Compton said clients will notice some differences when compared to pre-pandemic rules.
“You’re going to notice a difference just in terms of how you access the facility, the staff will be asking you a handful of questions around if you’ve been exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms, we’ll also be asking people to book in during those times because our ability to serve people is limited to a certain amount of people and spaces,” Compton said.
“You’ll also notice a different amount of spacing between equipment,” he added.
Compton says pools and locker rooms will not open until phase four, which is also when they will open the downtown location.
“When it comes to downtown we recently surveyed our members and the feedback was is that people weren’t returning to work immediately downtown, there was a lot of specific things mentioned like when the aquatic centre re-opens in phase four along with certain other amenities, until those are ready folks said they were not ready to come back downtown,” Compton said.
The provincial government has not yet announced when they will implement phase four of the re-opening plan.
