Number 1’s at 1 – June 5th to 7th

Coming up on today’s edition of Number 1’s at 1 we’ll take a look at today’s milestones in country music history and look ahead to the weekend.

Country music fans mourned the loss of Conway Twitty 27 years ago today. He passed away at the age of 59 from an abdominal aneurysm.

T.G. Sheppard landed his 10th number one hit on this day in 1982 with “Finally.”

Toby Keith got his first number one on the country charts 27 years ago today with one of the most played songs of 1990’s. “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” would stay at the top for two weeks.

We’ll celebrate a few birthday’s on today’s show. Lisa Brokop was born on June 6th, 1973 in Surrey, BC. Joe Stampley turns 77 on Saturday, and Tom Jones celebrates his 80th birthday on Sunday.

Paul Brandt reached the top of the Canadian country chart on June 7th, 1999 with “That’s the Truth,” which would go on to get him the CCMA Video of the Year Award at the 2000 CCMA’s.
