Regina-based company develops machine capable of deactivating COVID-19 on surfaces

Ground Effects Environmental Services, a company based in Regina, has developed a decontamination unit that has been lab-tested and proven to deactivate the coronavirus responsible for COVID-19 on surfaces.

Named the SANOZONE, it pumps ozone gas into an area to clean and decontaminate all surfaces inside of a room, including fabric and hard-to-reach areas. The process requires no people to be in the room, and take approximately an hour.

“Since it’s a gas, it goes on every single surface including into fabric and things like that,”  says President and CEO Sean Frisky. “It bio-decontaminates basically.”

When explaining how it works, Frisky says the gas kills viruses and bacteria. And of course, the product had a successful test run on SARS-CoV-2.

Frisky says with the use of this machine, a business that had a COVID-19 positive person inside of it could be ready to open again within three hours. Mass production of these units is still in the works.

Understandably, the amount of interest in this machine has been overwhelming. “From all the major sports leagues, to big cities, buses, trains and businesses. It’s insane.”

Mass production of these units is in its early stages.
